چکیده

Aim: The antimicrobial cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) is used in the management of denture stomatitis-associated oral candidiasis as an alternative therapy well for hygiene. Cetylpyridinium survives cavity long periods at low doses, which fluctuates due to dynamics cavity. In this study, it was aimed evaluate impact different sub-therapeutic CPC concentrations (1/100, 1/200) time (0.,5., 2., 24., 48. h) on expression drug-resistance genes (CDR1, CDR2, MDR1, ERG11) Candida albicans SC5314. Method: Total RNA extracted immediately after exposure using Biospeedy® Tri-Easy Isolation Kit followed by Real-Time Quantitative Reverse Transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). data were analyzed comparative 2-ΔΔCT method calculate relative target treatment with concentrations, standardized housekeeping gene Actin. Results: found that drug resistance levels increased high (1/100) 48 h, whereas downregulated 1/200. Conclusion: These results may provide insight into mechanisms action and aid development future strategies therapy.

Antifungal effect of electrospun nanofibers containing cetylpyridinium chloride against Candida albicans.

It is known that cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) has in vitro and in vivo antifungal action against Candida albicans, with advantages over other common antiseptics. A CPC delivery-controlled system, transported in polymer nanofibers (PVP/PMMA), was developed to increase the bioavailability of the drug in contact with the oral mucosa. The objectives of this study were to determine if CPC in nanof...

Relation of ALS 1 and ALS3 genes and fluconazole resistance in Candida albicans isolated from vaginal candidacies

Candida albicans is an opportunistic fungi that is able to thrive in many host niches, including the skin, mucosal, surfaces, the blood stream and internal organs. Agglutinin-like sequence (ALS) genes which could play a role in forming biofilms, adherence to host surfaces as a virulence factor and antifungal drug resistant. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the presence ALS1 and ...

Evolution of drug resistance in Candida albicans.

The widespread deployment of antimicrobial agents in medicine and agriculture is nearly always followed by the evolution of resistance to these agents in the pathogen. With the limited availability of antifungal drugs and the increasing incidence of opportunistic fungal infections, the emergence of drug resistance in fungal pathogens poses a serious public health concern. Antifungal drug resist...

Overexpression of MDR-1 and CDR-2 genes in fluconazole resistance of Candida albicans isolated from patients with vulvovaginal candidiasis

Background and Purpose: Candida albicans (C. albicans) is an opportunistic fungus that can colonize women’s mucosal epithelial cell surfaces, causing vulvovaginitis in specific circumstances. The major genes contributing to drug resistance in C. albicans are the candida drug resistance (CDR) and multi drug resistance (MDR) genes. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the CDR-2 and MDR...

Azole Antifungal Resistance in Candida albicans and Emerging Non-albicans Candida Species

Within the limited antifungal armamentarium, the azole antifungals are the most frequent class used to treat Candida infections. Azole antifungals such as fluconazole are often preferred treatment for many Candida infections as they are inexpensive, exhibit limited toxicity, and are available for oral administration. There is, however, extensive documentation of intrinsic and developed resistan...
